Year 4

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are delighted to welcome our year four students and parents to the 2020 academic school year! We are excited to be working alongside you and your child this year.

Term one has seen us settle into new routines and rise to expectations as we make our way to upper-primary. The students have worked hard across the curriculum and should be proud of their achievements.

We have taken part in hands on, extra-curricular activities to consolidate their learning in class. The students attended an incursion where they were divided into small groups to complete team-building challenges. Each challenge encouraged students to build upon their communication, trust, initiative, problem-solving and leadership skills.

As part of our term one integrated studies topic, the year four students have learnt about the 1800s and the First Fleet. To further their learning and broaden their understanding of this topic, the year four tem visited the State Library of Victoria. Students discovered how European explorers charted the seas and made their way to the Great Southern Land. Students examined primary sources to understand the motivations, expectations and discoveries of significant explorers by looking at historic maps and artefacts.

As part of our physical education curriculum, students were very fortunate to attend an excursion to the World Cup Cricket Clinic in Albert Cricket Ground. The students met the Indian Women’s Cricket Team and enjoyed participating in drills and practise games.

Mrs Ceren and Mrs Esra would like to thank all parents and students for their ongoing support throughout this term. It has been a very unusual time for our school community and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we manage ever-changing circumstances.

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us through SEQTA. We wish you all a safe and restful break.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Ceren and Mrs Esra
Year 4 Team
